B1.1.3. Information sharing conducted on REDD+ strategies, implementation and safeguards

At the national level, the National REDD+ Action Program (NRAP) and other key documents have been made available on many websites such as:

At provincial level, key policy documents such as Forest Protection and Development Plans, master plan, and Provincial REDD+ Action Plans are also made available online.

For information sharing via consultation processes:

  • In 2015, the FCPF Emission Reductions Program conducted more than 30 national and sub-national level workshops; key informant interviews; and a quantitative survey of over 3,000 households. More than 3,400 people, of which more than 40% were women, participated in communication events and public outreach.[1]
  • In 2022, MARD and JICA organized 7 consultation workshops to prepare for the environmental and social management framework for a REDD+ results-based payments proposal in Viet Nam, including: 1 national consultation with 59 participants, of which 35.6% were women; 3 regional and 3 local consultations in the North West, North East and South Central Coast regions with 131 participants in regional consultations and 102 in local consultations, of which 22.9% were women and 24.5% were EMLCs, respectively.[2]
  • In 2023, under the LEAF Program, 11 provincial consultations and 31 district and commune consultations were organized with the participation of more than 1,800 people, of which 17.9% of women and 30.09% of ethnic minorities.[3]
  • Other provincial level information sharing via consultations (information not yet available)
  • Information specific to REDD+ activities and safeguards is also shared online:
  • The Viet Nam Forest Protection and Development Fund (VNFF) website provides information on the Payments for Forest Environmental Services (PFES) scheme, which is a key element of REDD+ and benefit sharing, including legal documents, activities, announcements, communication and data. User statistics for the VNFF website: total visits 2013 - 2024: 4,645,120; daily users on 4 June 2024: 792; number of imported news articles: 940.
  • The FCPF Emission Reductions Program information is also provided on the VNFF website[4] including on the program, documents, Measurement, Monitoring and Reporting, and safeguards.
  • The SIS website provides information on safeguards in English and Vietnamese, with the following user statistics: total visits 2020-2024: 14,000.

Information on the distribution of benefits from REDD+ in Viet Nam will continue to be implemented and monitored through Viet Nam’s long-standing PFES scheme, as well as the benefit sharing plans developed for specific REDD+ programs (such as the FCPF and LEAF programs) (see SIS B2.3). The SIS also provides information on fund management and anti-corruption efforts (see SIS B1.2 and B1.3).
