A1. Consistency with national forest programs
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MAE)[1] is responsible for coordinating REDD+ implementation among the relevant ministries and Provincial People Committees (PPCs), and within the agricultural and rural development sector in Viet Nam, including reviewing budgets and lists of REDD+ projects for integration into the relevant plans and programs. It is also responsible for coordinating with relevant ministries, agencies and organizations to monitor and assess REDD+.
Coordination and alignment of the National REDD+ Action Program (NRAP) with overall national forest protection and development efforts are ensured through the high-level Central Steering Committee of the Program on Sustainable Forestry Development (PFSD) that brings together representatives from relevant government ministries, government agencies and parliamentary committees, including the Ethnic Minority Council and the Committee for Science, Technology and the Environment, and other relevant stakeholders. The Central Steering Committee on implementing the PSFD for the 2021-2025 period is also the steering body for the implementation of the NRAP.
PPCs were responsible for appraisal and approval of Provincial REDD+ Action Plans, ensuring consistency with national forest strategies, plans and programs.
