Safeguard - A1.2.2. Consistency between REDD+ at national and provincial levels

A1.2.2. Consistency between REDD+ at national and provincial levels

National guidelines[1] on Provincial REDD Action Plans (PRAPs) require provinces to ensure that PRAPs are consistent with national forestry programs, and to hold multi-sector consultation processes. There are 22 provinces that developed PRAPs for the 2016-2020 period.[2]

In addition to PRAPs, some REDD+ programs in Viet Nam are implemented in particular regions, such as the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility Emissions Reduction Program (FCPF-ERP) in the North-Central Coast Region of Viet Nam and the LEAF Program being developed in the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast regions. These programs are in alignment with the priority actions and interventions, based on the National REDD+ Action Program actions, such as promoting sustainable management of forests and carbon stock enhancement, promotion of climate smart agriculture and sustainable livelihoods for forest dependent people, enabling conditions for emissions reduction.[3]
